my journey
Kevin de Roos is a music curator, producer, DJ, and experience director whose work has moved through the electronic music world for nearly two decades. Known for his instinctive understanding of culture, sound, and atmosphere, he has built a career that bridges music, artist development, community, and human connection — always guided by a deep sensitivity to what moves people, both emotionally and collectively.
His relationship with music began early. After visiting Space Ibiza at a young age, music stopped feeling like entertainment and became something far more immersive: a living environment capable of transforming perception, energy, and identity. That experience led him into years of studying music synthesis, theory, and sound design, eventually earning his Ableton certification while developing a deep technical understanding of music production and DJing. By the age of fourteen, he played his first DJ set — the beginning of a path that would steadily unfold through curiosity, dedication, and lived experience rather than pursuit of status alone.
As his understanding of music deepened, Kevin became increasingly drawn not only to sound itself, but to the movements forming around it. Early on, he became closely involved with Deep House Amsterdam during its formative years, contributing to a platform that would grow into a globally respected voice within electronic music culture and later evolve into DHA Academy. Through writing, curation, artist relations, and community-building, he developed a reputation for recognizing emerging talent and understanding cultural shifts before they fully surfaced — a quality that would become a defining thread throughout his career.
This eventually led him to Armada Music, where he served as an A&R Manager working across multiple labels and projects. There, he gained firsthand experience in artist development, publishing, contracts, label strategy, and long-term creative positioning. More importantly, it gave him insight into the deeper mechanics of the industry: what allows certain artists, movements, and ideas to endure beyond moments of hype. Alongside this work, he continued performing internationally as a DJ and curator, steadily shaping his own musical identity while developing a nuanced understanding of crowd psychology, storytelling through sound, and the emotional architecture of a room.
That sensibility found a natural home in Gospel, where Kevin became Music Director and helped shape the venue’s sonic identity during a formative period in its growth. Through years of curating lineups, producing events, holding residencies, and working closely with both emerging and internationally established artists, he became known for creating spaces that felt intentional, emotionally resonant, and culturally forward-thinking. His approach to music has consistently extended beyond performance alone; for Kevin, music is ultimately about creating environments where people feel more connected — to themselves, to each other, and to the present moment.
Today, his work increasingly lives at the intersection of music, inner development, education, and experience design. In collaboration with The Thyme, he is developing immersive retreats and artist-focused experiences rooted in the belief that creativity and wellbeing are deeply interconnected. At the center of this vision is On Track — a conscious DJ school and creative platform designed to support artists not only technically, but personally and emotionally. Through a combination of musical education, deep listening, nervous system regulation, movement, ceremony, and community, the project explores a more sustainable and human approach to artistry within modern music culture.
Underlying all of Kevin’s work is a consistent philosophy: that great music is not only heard, but deeply felt — and that learning how to truly listen is as important as learning how to perform. Across studios, clubs, retreats, and communities, his path has remained centered around the same intention: creating meaningful experiences that bring people closer to presence, honesty, and connection through sound.
Rather than reinventing himself, Kevin’s work today feels like the natural convergence of everything he has spent years building — quietly, intentionally, and with a long view toward what music and culture can become.
